Majesty III Book – Exceptional Trees of Hawai
This project focuses on the creation of a third Majesty book highlighting Hawaiʻi’s Exceptional Trees, the first installment since Majesty II was released in the early 1990s. The book’s content is be researched and written by Dr. Myles Ritchie, a global expert in exceptional/heritage tree programs who is also the Chair of the Arborist Advisory Committee for the City and County of Honolulu as well as The Outdoor Circle’s Programs Director. Majesty III will feature exceptional trees from across Hawaiʻi and provide historical, cultural, botanical, environmental, and other important data pertaining to these trees, alongside high-quality images, all set in a hardcopy format. This book serves two critical functions. First, it helps with education and outreach efforts to promote Hawaiʻi’s Exceptional Tree Program, with the hopes of greater recognition of these trees and ultimately more nominations to increase the number of trees legally protected by this program. Second, it helps convey one of The Outdoor Circle’s key legacy projects to a wide audience.
