Free Tree Giveaways Provided By The Outdoor Circle
The Outdoor Circle has planted and given away over 1 million trees since its inception in 1912. Several thousand trees have been freely provided to communities throughout Hawaiʻi since 2019 alone, accomplished in partnership with our many branches and with the generous support of entities such as United Airlines, FedEx, Verizon, State Farm, Enterprise Car Rental, The Arbor Day Foundation, and many more. These events have been wildly popular with the public, with events running of nearly 1,000 free fruit trees in under an hour. Year-after-year these events continue to draw more individuals and support from local communities who want to improve their local urban forests to provide increased shade, mitigate flooding, improve biodiversity, facilitate better human health, and many other environmental and cultural ecosystem services that trees provide. An additional benefit of these tree giveaways is that food insecurity issues are improved as the majority of the trees provided at these events are fruit and food producing tree species, which provide healthy sustenance options grown at one’s own home which can also be shared with friends and family.
