North Shore Outdoor Circle

Audobon Park on the North Shore NSOC, as we are known, was founded as a branch of The Outdoor Circle in 1987. We are located on Oahu’s beautiful, relatively rural north shore and hold our regular membership meetings in Waimea Valley.

photo of surfersThe North Shore is a surfer’s mecca well known for the winter surf and famous surfing contests. It is also known for fishing, snorkeling, turtles, and laid back, country life style.

The NSOC recognizes the need for vigilance. Overdevelopment, increased traffic, loss of trees, loss of view planes, and preservation issues concern many in our community. We have always tried to accomplish beautification projects and have been very successful in this endeavor. Two recent examples are the completion of the planting and maintenance of a 3 1/2 mile bike path and large traffic circle at the entrance to Hale‘iwa town. We were very involved with the saving of Waimea Valley from sale to a private landowner and possible development. The valley and arboretum will now be preserved and protected for the public under OHA ownership.

Some of our fundraisers have attracted lots of attention and have been very successful. We have been able to give money to support the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and other community groups that contribute to the beauty and spirit of our North Shore Community.
