Ulu La‘au

With the help of volunteers, Waimea Outdoor Circle maintains the park as a place to gather, picnic and enjoy. The park also provides middle and high school students the opportunity to learn about unique plants that are native to the Waimea and Kohala areas.

Ulu La‘au sits at an elevation of 2,600 feet and has exposure to both “wet side” and “dry side” rain patterns. This makes it possible to grow a wide range of plant species from both Hawaii’s wet and dry uplands. Waimea Outdoor Circle regularly removes invasive and noxious plant species and replaces them with native ones.
