Magic Island

aerial photo of Magic IslandIn 2004, The Outdoor Circle completed a four year project that involved the planting of more than 150 trees around the perimeter of Honolulu’s Magic Island. The late Christine Snyder originally envisioned the project and dreamed of a “lei of aloha” encircling Magic Island. The planting was planned and executed with the cooperation and assistance of the City and County of Honolulu.

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, this project helped transform Magic Island from a neglected strip of dirt to one of the jewels of Honolulu’s waterfront. Since the completion of this project, Magic Island has become a much more inviting place for family gatherings and city events.
